Carlos Rodon Won't Start Season On Time
2 years agoNew York Yankees left-hander Carlos Rodon (forearm) is dealing with a mild forearm strain and won't throw for the next seven to 10 days, according to general manager Brian Cashman. Rodon will not be ready for the start of the 2023 regular season and will begin on the injured list. It's not what the Yankees had in mind when they signed him to a six-year, $162 million deal in free agency, but at least the 30-year-old southpaw's injury is considered mild, so hopefully he doesn't miss too much time in the season's first month. With Frankie Montas (shoulder) set to miss at least half the season, New York's rotation is looking shaky before the season has even started. The injuries to Rodon and Montas should assure that Clarke Schmidt opens the year in the starting rotation.
