Carlos Martinez Still Hopes To Be Starter
6 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals pitcher Carlos Martinez (shoulder), who is expected to pitch out of the bullpen next month, said he still wants to pitch in a starting role after the All-Star break. He'll head to the team's spring complex in Florida this week and will face hitters in live batting practice Monday and Thursday. "I feel so much better. Right now I’m 85 percent, 90 percent. In two weeks ... I think I’m going to be great. When I come back to the major leagues, I’m going to be 100 percent," Martinez said. The 27-year-old was on the disabled list multiple times with shoulder issues last year and has yet to be healthy so far in 2019. Martinez really won't have much fantasy appeal pitching in relief if he's not getting save chances.
