Carlos Martinez Shut Down From Throwing For Two Weeks
6 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Carlos Martinez (shoulder) will be on a no-throw program for two weeks after the team discovered that his right shoulder strength isn't where it needed to be in camp. The good news is he doesn't have any structural damage. The bad news is Martinez dealt with arm issues for most of last season, causing him to land on the disabled list more than once. St. Louis was also possibly considering having him open the year in the bullpen after he thrived there to close out the season. He's becoming more and more of a risky mid-round target, although he could see work in the closer's role if he's delegated to the bullpen.
