Carlos Gonzalez Being Released
4 years agoSeattle Mariners outfielder Carlos Gonzalez is one of the players the Mariners are releasing among their minor league cuts. Gonzalez signed a minor league deal with the M's with an invite to spring training, where he hit .237 before the coronavirus shutdown in early March. The 34-year-old Venezuelan was a three-time All-Star with the Rockies but struggled mightily in 2019 in his first season away from Coors Field, hitting a combined .200/.289/.283 with three home runs and 10 RBI in 45 games (166 plate appearances) with the Indians and Cubs. Car-Go could resurface elsewhere, but he's unlikely to make much of an impact on a major league squad, especially in a shortened 2020 season.
