Cardinals Won't Have A Set Closer
3 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol suggested that the team won't have a set closer this season. It's something that the Cardinals have discussed for years. Right-hander Alex Reyes finally stayed healthy last year and rewarded the Cardinals and fantasy managers with 29 saves, but he's dealing with shoulder soreness this spring and won't be ready for Opening Day. That means that we could be looking at a committee approach in the ninth inning between Giovanny Gallegos, who had 14 saves in 2021, Genesis Cabrera and Ryan Helsley. It's not the situation that fantasy managers would like, but if you're targeting a reliever for saves in the Red Birds' bullpen right now, it should be Gallegos.
