5 years agoThe St. Louis Cardinals placed starting pitcher Adam Wainwright (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list on Monday with a left hamstring strain that he suffered in his start on Sunday night. Rookie reliever Ryan Helsley was called up from Triple-A Memphis in a corresponding move. The 37-year-old Wainwright hurt himself running the bases in the fifth inning and has an underwhelming 4.46 ERA with 61 K's and 31 walks in 70 2/3 innings on the year. The veteran right-hander is only worth streaming in much deeper leagues when he has the right matchup on tap. Michael Wacha, Daniel Ponce De Leon and Alex Reyes are candidates to take Waino's rotation spot.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
