Cardinals Not Happy With Carlos Martinez's Training Regimen
6 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals executive John Mozeliak voiced his displeasure with starting pitcher Carlos Martinez (shoulder) after already being injured in camp after he dealt with arm issues for most of the 2018 season. "Obviously, there’s a history with Carlos’ shoulder and it would be probably in everybody’s best interest if he maintained a constant or perpetual approach to that program," Mozeliak said. After multiple trips to the disabled list last year due to shoulder issues, Martinez is hurt again this spring and is now in danger of missing the start of the regular season. His fantasy stock was already down, but it could plummet now, especially if the Cards move him to a relief role permanently. The 27-year-old went 8-6 with a 3.11 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 117 strikeouts in 118 2/3 innings (33 outings, 18 starts) last year.
