Cardinals Fire Byron Leftwich, Al Holcomb
6 years agoThe Arizona Cardinals fired interim offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich and defensive coordinator Al Holcomb on Monday, according to a source. Leftwich took over midseason after the team fired Mike McCoy, and the Cardinals finished dead last in yards per game (241.6), dead last in passing yards per game (157.7), dead last in rushing yards per game (83.9) and dead last in points per game (14.1). That'll do it. While they were a bit better on defense, they still struggled for consistency. Leftwich had precious few weapons on offense to work with aside from running back David Johnson and veteran wideout Larry Fitzgerald, making it extremely tough on rookie quarterback Josh Rosen. Success won't come overnight, but Arizona must give Rosen more weapons and a much better offensive line in order to keep him from regressing in Year 2.
