5 years agoCarolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera is already ruling out quarterback Cam Newton (foot) for Week 4 against the Texans. Backup Kyle Allen will make a second straight start versus Houston. "What Cam needs right now is time and rest for his foot," Rivera said in a statement. "We want him at 100 percent when he's ready, so there's no exact timetable for his return. At this point, we're going to go forward with Kyle (Allen) as our starter." Allen went 19-for-26 for 262 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions in the Week 3 win over the Cardinals. In a solid matchup with Houston in Week 4, Allen will still be nothing more than a low-end QB2, but he's led the offense more consistently than Newton did in the first two weeks.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
