Cam Newton Resumes Throwing Regulation Football
5 years agoCarolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton (shoulder) has started throwing a regulation-sized football, according to a league source. Newton is coming off his second straight offseason shoulder surgery and hadn't thrown overhand during public workouts so far this spring. The Panthers won't rush the start quarterback along through the process, but he's expected to participate in workouts by training camp this summer. Newton, 30, was really limited in what he could do down the field late last year and sat out the final two meaningless games of the season. He finished with 3,395 yards passing, 24 touchdowns and 13 interceptions in 14 games while also running 101 times for 488 yards and four scores. When he's healthy and also using his legs to rack up points, Newton is a no-doubt QB1, but the risk is greater than ever.
