Cam Akers Has Chance To Be Leading Man In LA
5 years agoLos Angeles Rams rookie running back Cam Akers, a second-round pick at 52nd overall, has a good shot at becoming the team's leading running back in his first season. Akers has the build and makeup to be an every-down player in the NFL and should be a great fit in head coach Sean McVay's zone-heavy running scheme. Malcolm Brown and Darrell Henderson may be hurdles to Akers' touches right off the bat, as well as the Rams poor offensive line from a year ago, but Akers has some intriguing initial upside as a rookie heading into the 2020 season. With Todd Gurley now playing for the Falcons, the Rams have plenty of backfield touches to divvy up.
