Buster Posey Has Successful Surgery
6 years agoSan Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey (hip) underwent successful surgery on his right hip on Monday to fix a torn labrum and address his hip impingement. Posey will begin his rehab later this week in hopes of being ready for spring training in 2019. The veteran backstop has been one of the top fantasy catchers since 2010, but he's definitely approaching the back nine of his career at this point. Posey's power was down this year (only five homers), and he might be more of an injury risk heading into next season. The Giants would be wise to use him at first base as much as they can in 2019 to preserve his health. Nick Hundley will be the team's primary catcher for the rest of the year, with Aramis Garcia backing him up.
