Bryce Miller 2025 Player Outlook: Arsenal Of Plus Pitches Provides Ammunition For Encore To 2024
1 day agoSeattle Mariners starting pitcher Bryce Miller broke out last season, going 12-8 with a 2.94 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, and a 17.9% K-BB% over 180 1/3 innings pitched. Stuff+ on his four-seamer was fourth-best in baseball for pitchers who logged 100 IP, but the former fourth-round draft pick has a quiver full of pitches including a sinker, cutter, sweeper, slider, curveball, and a devastating splitter that had a run value of 10 per Baseball Savant, best in MLB last season. If not for names like Logan Gilbert, Luis Castillo, and George Kirby on his own team, the 26-year-old's sensational campaign may not have been so overshadowed. Heck, even Bryan Woo posted a better WHIP. However, Miller finished higher than all but Gilbert in fantasy scoring last season. Looking ahead, the K/9 of 8.53 leaves a bit to be desired, while a FIP of 3.58 and SIERA of 3.80 say he may have pitched a bit over his head and some ERA regression could be in store. Be that as it may, it seems to be baked into his cost, perhaps even a tad too much, as his NFBC ADP sits at 80 overall while RotoBaller ranks the righty at 78.
