Browns Open To Extension For Tyrod Taylor
6 years agoCleveland Browns general manager John Dorsey said he's open to discussing a contract extension with quarterback Tyrod Taylor this fall. "I just want to see Tyrod do what he's done in the past. He's a natural born leader. He's had an excellent camp so far. I want to see it unfold. There may come a point here where I call his representatives in October and say, 'Let's strike something up,'" Dorsey recently told the The Ringer's Kevin Clark. Taylor has impressed the team in training camp and is in line to start in Week 1, but the Browns drafted Baker Mayfield first overall to be the quarterback of the future, so an extension for Taylor would be a questionable move. Most people are expecting Taylor's leash to be short with Mayfield sitting behind him, but he was productive with the Bills and comes to Cleveland with a much better receiving corps at his disposal. He could be a fine fantasy backup with QB1 potential in the right matchups.
