Browns Hiring Alex Van Pelt As Offensive Coordinator
5 years agoThe Cleveland Browns are hiring former NFL quarterback and long-time quarterbacks coach Alex Van Pelt as their next offensive coordinator on Wednesday, according to a league source. Van Pelt was the offensive coordinator for the Bills in 2009. Head coach Kevin Stefanski could still call his own plays in his first season as the head guy in Cleveland. Van Pelt's primary job will be to improve the play of quarterback Baker Mayfield, who underperformed behind a terrible offensive line in 2019. Getting Mayfield and No. 1 wideout Odell Beckham Jr. on the same page is paramount for this team's success in 2020.
