Broncos Sticking With Hot Hand In Backfield
6 years agoDenver Broncos head coach Vance Joseph said he isn't considering starting rookie running back Phillip Lindsay after he has impressed in the first two weeks. “No, because it doesn’t matter. Our deal with that room is more of gameplan. It’s what they do best. It’s more of who has the hot hand that day," Joseph said. Even though Lindsay hasn't had the first carry of either game, he has outplayed both Royce Freeman and Devontae Booker and is seeing his fair share of touches. He has 29 carries for 178 yards (third in the NFL) with a 6.1 yard-per-carry average. The 24-year-old has also caught three passes for 35 yards and a touchdown in two games. Lindsay has become a viable RB3/flex play.
