Broncos Ready To Give Courtland Sutton A Bigger Role
6 years agoPart of the reason the Denver Broncos traded wide receiver Demaryius Thomas to the Texans on Tuesday is because they want to give impressive rookie Courtland Sutton a bigger role for the second half of the season and they believe he is ready. Sutton leads the team's receivers with a 19.1 yard-per-catch average this year and has excelled in contested-pass situations. “Courtland’s played very, very well, and Tim Patrick played very well last week, and Emmanuel [Sanders] is obviously playing very well too," general manager John Elway said. “We thought this would give Courtland a chance to get out there and play more and be a bigger part of it because we think he’s ready to go." Sutton has averaged 47 snaps per game through eight weeks, but that should go up some now. Daesean Hamilton and Tim Patrick will also see their roles increase now in three-receiver sets, but Sutton is the clear winner in fantasy as well. He should now be owned in all leagues and has WR2 upside moving forward.
