Broncos Fire Vance Joseph
6 years agoThe Denver Broncos fired head coach Vance Joseph on Monday after their first back-to-back losing seasons since the early-70s, according to a source. Joseph spent only two years with Denver despite signing a four-year deal in 2017, and the Broncos went 5-11 in his first year and 6-10 in 2018. The Broncos were competitive against good teams this year, but ultimately the quarterback position did Joseph in the last two years, as well as a declining defense in 2018. Rookie running backs Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman as well as receiver Courtland Sutton are reasons for optimism in the long term, but until the Broncos figure out the QB position, this is a team that could continue to struggle in 2019. The health of Emmanuel Sanders (Achilles) is also in question for next year.
