Brewers Agree With Yasmani Grandal
6 years agoThe Milwaukee Brewers agreed to a one-year deal with free-agent catcher Yasmani Grandal on Wednesday, according to sources. Financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed. He turned down a one-year, $17.9 million qualifying offer from the Dodgers and a four-year deal that could have reached $60 million with the Mets. Grandal was a disaster both on offense and defense in the playoffs last year, but he hit .241/.349/.466 with 24 home runs and 68 RBI in 440 at-bats for the Dodgers in the regular season. The switch-hitting backstop is one of the better offensive catchers in baseball and is moving to a more friendly hitting environment where he should share time with Manny Pina.
