Brent Honeywell Jr. Shut Down Indefinitely
3 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher Brent Honeywell Jr. (elbow) has been shut down from throwing indefinitely after an MRI/CT scan showed an olecranon stress reaction in the bone in the back of his right elbow, according to trainer Nick Paparesta. The 26-year-old was once a top prospect for the Tampa Bay Rays, but injuries have derailed his career. He missed three straight seasons from 2018-20 with elbow injuries and finally made his big-league debut by throwing 4 1/3 innings last year. Honeywell will now go back on the shelf with more elbow issues, and it's uncertain when he might be ready to pitch for the A's. Fantasy managers in dynasty/keeper leagues shouldn't hold out too much hope for him at this point.
