Braxton Garrett Could Move To Live BP Soon
9 months agoMiami Marlins left-hander Braxton Garrett (shoulder) could throw his first live batting practice of the spring soon. Garrett arrived to camp behind the other pitchers due to soreness in his left shoulder, so the Marlins have been slow-playing him early on. The 26-year-old southpaw may be forced to open the 2024 regular season on the injured list as a result, which will obviously be a hit to his fantasy value as rotation depth in deep mixed leagues. Garrett is coming off a strong season in 2023, though, as he went 9-7 with a 3.66 ERA (3.68 FIP) and 1.15 WHIP with 29 walks and a career-high 156 strikeouts in 159 2/3 innings over 31 outings (30 starts) in his fourth big-league season. Not only does Garrett keep the ball on the ground, but his slider generates a lot of swing and miss. If healthy, he can be a solid streamer in fantasy leagues in 2024.
