4 months agoThe Atlanta Braves recalled right-hander Darius Vines from Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday and optioned right-hander Jimmy Herget to Gwinnett in a corresponding move. Vines, the team's No. 13 prospect per MLB Pipeline, will make his return to the big leagues after posting a rough 7.82 ERA (6.15 FIP) and a 1.66 WHIP with eight strikeouts and four walks in 12 2/3 innings over three appearances (two starts) earlier this year. He made his MLB debut in 2023 and allowed 10 runs (nine earned) on 15 hits while walking seven and striking out 14 in 20 1/3 frames, so Vines hasn't exactly had much success in his first 33 innings for Atlanta the last two years. The 26-year-old is likely to come on in relief on Monday against the hosting Milwaukee Brewers, but if he doesn't, he could make a spot start in a tough matchup on Tuesday.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
