1 year agoArizona Diamondbacks rookie right-hander Brandon Pfaadt is lined up to pitch Game 3 of the National League Championship Series against the Philadelphia Phillies next Thursday. Zac Gallen will go in Game 1 and Merrill Kelly will go in Game 2 in Philadelphia. Pfaadt struggled in his first career playoff appearance in Game 1 of the wild-card series against the Milwaukee Brewers, giving up three earned runs while walking one and fanning four in just 2 2/3 innings for a no-decision. However, he bounced back with 4 1/3 shutout innings with two K's in Game 3 of the Division Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The 24-year-old was up and down in his first MLB campaign in 2023 (5.72 ERA, 1.41 WHIP) and lacks postseason experience, but when he's on, he has plenty of strikeout upside.
