Brandon Nimmo Begins Rehab Assignment
5 years agoNew York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (neck) was set to start his rehab assignment with High-A St. Lucie on Friday, and the team will play it by ear in deciding how long it'll be before he returns to the majors. Nimmo went on the injured list on May 22 and would be a welcomed left-handed stick for a Mets team that is mainly right-handed. The 26-year-old has had a rough year because of his neck injury, playing in just 43 games while hitting a weak .200/.344/.323 with three home runs and 14 RBI. He could perform much better down the stretch if he's past his injury, but fantasy owners in mixed leagues can take a wait-and-see approach. Besides, we don't even know when Nimmo will return yet.
