Brandon Marsh Starting Rehab Assignment
6 months agoPhiladelphia Phillies outfielder Brandon Marsh (hamstring) is starting a minor-league rehab assignment with Double-A Reading on Thursday. Marsh landed on the injured list with a right-hamstring injury on June 3 but is nearing a return and could be reinstated from the IL to rejoin the Phillies major-league roster at some point this weekend or early next week for the start of their homestand. When the 26-year-old left-handed-hitting outfielder is ready to return, he'll resume his role as Philly's regular center fielder, at least against right-handed pitching. Before getting injured, Marsh was batting .265 (43-for-162) with six home runs, 26 RBI, eight stolen bases and 21 runs scored in 52 games played. With Marsh hurt, Johan Rojas has seen more run in center field for the Phils. UPDATE: Marsh will serve as the designated hitter on Thursday and will have four or five at-bats before playing center field on Friday. If everything goes well, he could return to the Phillies lineup on Saturday against the Baltimore Orioles.
