Brandon Belt To Undergo Further Tests On His Thumb
3 years agoSan Francisco Giants first baseman Brandon Belt (thumb) was hit by a pitch in his left thumb in the seventh inning of Sunday's game against the Colorado Rockies. He stayed in to take his free base in the inning, but was replaced in the field in the bottom half of the inning. After the game, he had x-rays done, but they were inconclusive. He is slated to undergo additional x-rays on Monday. The 33-year-old veteran has been on fire at the plate this month. He's slashing .349/.451/.721 with nine home runs, 18 RBI and 23 runs through September. He should be considered day-to-day for now. The Giants are off on Monday before opening a three-game home series against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday.
