Brandon Belt Could Return In NLCS If Giants Advance
3 years agoSan Francisco Giants first baseman Brandon Belt (thumb) fractured his left thumb about a week ago and is currently on the injured list. Giants manager Gabe Kapler talked to reporters on Tuesday and stated that there's no certainty on Belt's timeline, but that the team has discussed the NLCS as a "dream scenario" for Belt's return. The Giants will at least be without Belt in the NLDS and we'll likely see a mix of Darin Ruf, Wilmer Flores and LaMonte Wade Jr. covering first for the series. Belt dealt with several injuries this year, but he was a force when he was in the lineup, hitting a career-high 29 home runs over just 97 games.
