Brad Hand Placed On Outright Waivers
4 years agoThe Cleveland Indians placed left-handed reliever Brad Hand on outright waivers on Thursday, according to a source. Hand has a $10 million team option for the 2021 season that the Indians plan on declining if he goes unclaimed. If another team claims the southpaw, Cleveland would be off the hook for the $1 million buyout attached to Hand's option. The 30-year-old led the league with 16 saves in the shortened 2020 season while posting a 2.05 ERA and 29 strikeouts in 22 innings. He has a 2.78 ERA in 111 appearances with Cleveland since being acquired from the Padres in 2018. The three-time All-Star ranks fourth among all pitchers with at least 150 innings with a 2.61 ERA since 2017.
