Blue Jays Sign Travis Shaw
5 years agoThe Toronto Blue Jays agreed to a one-year, $4 million deal with infielder Travis Shaw on Sunday, according to a source. The deal includes $675,000 in performance bonuses. Shaw hit 30-plus homers in 2017 and 2018 with the Brewers, but he tanked in 2019 and was demoted to Triple-A San Antonio in 2019, hitting .157 with seven home runs and 16 RBI in 86 games with the Brewers. The 29-year-old mostly played the hot corner in Milwaukee, but he also saw time at second and first base. He's likely to mostly play first base and serve as a designated hitter with the move to the American League. A very friendly hitting environment in Toronto could easily make Shaw a worthwhile bounce-back target late in drafts.
