Blue Jays Have Checked In On Brad Hand
4 years agoThe Toronto Blue Jays, who have been among the most active teams in offseason talks, have checked in on free-agent relief pitcher Brad Hand, according to a source. The Jays have other needs on the roster, but a left-handed reliever to join Jordan Romano and Rafael Dolis at the back end of the bullpen is also on their wish list. The 30-year-old southpaw had an excellent 2.05 ERA and 0.77 WHIP while converting all 16 of his save chances for the Indians last year. However, Cleveland didn't pick up his $10 million option for the 2021 season, while he does carry some red flags after his fastball velocity and whiff rate declined. Still, Hand struck out a third of the hitters he faced. There's a good chance that Hand won't be as attractive to fantasy managers in 2021 if he isn't seeing regular save opportunities with his new club.
