6 years agoThe Toronto Blue Jays called up outfielder Anthony Alford from Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday. Toronto has a need in center field after trading Kevin Pillar to the Giants on Tuesday, so Alford should see plenty of playing time to open the season. The 24-year-old is the team's No. 11 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, but lower-body injuries and a poor plate approach hasn't led to much production in the upper minors. He hit just .238/.314/.339 with five homers, 36 RBI and 17 steals in two minor league stops last season. Alford is a great athlete, though, and his mix of raw power and speed is worth speculating on in deep mixed and AL-only leagues.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
