5 years agoThe Kansas City Royals designated outfielder Billy Hamilton for assignment on Friday and recalled outfielder Brett Phillips from Triple-A Omaha in a corresponding move. The 28-year-old Hamilton was a failure in KC this year, hitting just .211/.275/.269 with a career-low .544 OPS, although he did have 18 stolen bases. Phillips was hitting .240/.378/.505 with 18 home runs and 22 stolen bases in 105 games in the minors this year. He hit a combined .187/.252/.306 with two home runs and 11 RBI in 147 plate appearances with the Brewers and Royals in 2018 at the big league level. He could see sporadic playing time the rest of the way for the rebuilding Royals.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
