Benjamin Watson Facing Four-Game Suspension
5 years agoNew England Patriots tight end Benjamin Watson announced on his social media on Sunday that he is facing a four-game suspension for violating the league's performance-enhancing drug policy. Watson took a testosterone supplement that was legally prescribed by his doctor but banned by the league when he figured his playing days were over after the 2018 season. The 15-year veteran and 38-year-old spent the first six years of his career with the Patriots after being taken with the final pick of the first round in 2004. The Patriots signed Watson regardless of his suspension, mainly because they need depth after Rob Gronkowski retired. Watson had 35 catches for 400 yards and two touchdowns for the Saints last season, but he's unlikely to be anything more than a low-end TE2 in 2019. Austin Seferian-Jenkins and Matt LaCosse will battle for playing time to begin the year with Watson suspended.
