Bears Still Believe In Mitchell Trubisky
5 years agoChicago Bears general manager Ryan Pace said he still believes in quarterback Mitchell Trubisky despite the fact that the team declined his $24.8 million fifth-year option for the 2021 season. Trubisky will be competing this summer with Nick Foles, who the Bears acquired in a trade from the Jaguars this offseason. Trubisky was the second overall pick in the 2017 draft, but the 25-year-old took a step back in 2019 in his third season by throwing for 3,138 yards, 17 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 15 games. He had a career-low 6.1 yards per attempt and was also sacked a career-high 38 times. Foles, a former Super Bowl MVP for the Eagles, is expected to have a leg up in the open competition in training camp. Even if Trubisky were to hold off Foles, he'd be a low-end QB2 in fantasy circles.
