2 years agoThe Chicago Bears and tight end Cole Kmet agreed to a four-year, $50 million extension on Wednesday that includes $32.8 million guaranteed and $20 million in new first-year cash. The former second-rounder in 2020 took a slight step back in 2022 with 50 receptions on 69 targets for 544 yards and a career-high seven touchdowns in 17 starts after going for 612 yards on 60 receptions in his sophomore season in 2021. The seven touchdowns in 2022 were nice, though, and showed that Kmet is developing some nice red-zone chemistry with young quarterback Justin Fields. Robert Tonyan is now in the mix at the TE position in Chicago, but Kmet is Chicago's clear No. 1 pass-catching tight end with upside heading into his fourth year. If Fields takes the next step as a passer in 2023, Kmet could be a steal as a low-end TE1/high-end TE2 in fantasy drafts.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
