2 days agoMinnesota Twins starting pitcher Bailey Ober went 12-9 with a 3.98 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, and 191 strikeouts over 178 2/3 IP in 2024. The wins, WHIP, strikeouts, and innings were all career bests, and while the ERA was on the high side, a SIERA of 3.56 indicates there's a good chance to see improvement in that area over the upcoming season. The 6-foot-9 hurler saw a 9.7% year-over-year increase in Whiff% on his changeup, up to 39.5%, and with a 14.2% SwStr% overall, the high strikeout totals are repeatable in 2025. The other thing he's got going for him is that he still calls the AL Central home, and although he struggled against Kansas City, the 29-year-old posted a 2.61 ERA, 0.77 WHIP, and a 25.6% K-BB% in 10 games against the other divisional foes. The righty logged 18 quality starts last season, the same amount as NL Cy Young winner Chris Sale, but he tends to fly under the radar, meaning you can get him at a discount. Ober's NFBC ADP currently sits at 85, but RotoBaller ranks the pitcher a round higher, at 75 overall.
