Avisail Garcia To Have Offseason Surgery
6 years agoChicago White Sox outfielder Avisail Garcia (knee) said he expects to have arthroscopic surgery on his right knee in the offseason. He's had a disappointing year after a 2017 All-Star nod, mainly due to hamstring and knee issues that have limited him to 59 games. “I have to get something done in the offseason," Garcia said. “I know I have to get it cleaned up. Nothing major. We think the knee has caused the hamstring [issues]. It’s been a crazy year, but hopefully next year will be better." He is batting .244/.275/.471 with 13 home runs and 27 RBI on the year and has one hit in his last 22 at-bats entering the game Wednesday. A poor lineup around him also hasn't done his counting stats any favors. It's been a tough season for a player that hit .330 just a season ago. Hopefully he'll be able to bounce back for fantasy owners and have better health in 2019.
