5 years agoSan Diego Padres catcher Austin Hedges (ankle) was scratched from the lineup on Saturday with a left ankle sprain, and he's listed as day-to-day. Hedges is hitting a brutal .189/.259/.331 with six home runs, 12 runs and 17 RBI on the season, but his excellent defense is the reason why he's the Friars starter. He has some power, too, but San Diego might want to give catching prospect Francisco Mejia another shot soon if Hedges doesn't pick it up with the stick. Don't be surprised if he's out of the lineup again on Sunday in the series finale against the Nationals.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
