Austin Adams Will Be Full-Go For Spring Training
4 years agoSeattle Mariners general manager Jerry Dipoto said that relief pitcher Austin Adams (knee) will be full-go for spring training 2.0 next week. Adams underwent surgery last October for a torn left ACL. The delay to the 2020 season thanks to COVID-19 was a positive for Adams, and he could factor into high-leverage situations at the back of the team's bullpen this season. The 33-year-old right-hander had an ugly 7.02 ERA and 1.86 WHIP in just 15 relief outings with the Twins and Tigers in 2019. The fact that Adams has just one career save doesn't bode well for his chances in the ninth inning, but he could get a chance if a committee approach with Matt Magill, Yoshihisa Hirano and Erik Swanson fails.
