Astros Plan To Use Yordan Alvarez In The Field More
5 years agoThe Houston Astros are planning to use outfielder Yordan Alvarez in the field more often than they did during his rookie season in 2019. Alvarez was battling some knee soreness before spring training was shut down. It wasn't a serious condition, but it's something worth watching, especially if he'll be roaming the outfield more whenever the regular season starts. Gaining outfield playing time will likely come at the expense of Josh Reddick or Kyle Tucker, but Alvarez can also play some first base. The 22-year-old Cuban was the American League Rookie of the Year last year, slashing .313/.412/.655 with 27 home runs and 78 RBI in 87 games. He has plenty of upside remaining in his bat and is currently going around pick No. 36 in fantasy drafts. One way or another he'll play every day for a stacked Astros lineup.
