Astros Interested In Extension For George Springer
5 years agoHouston Astros owners Jim Crane "made it clear" to outfielder George Springer and his representatives that the team is interested in a contract extension. Springer will become a free agent after the 2020 season, and he'll be one of the most coveted free-agent outfielders, alongside Mookie Betts, if he reaches the open market. The 30-year-old slashed .292/.383/.591 with 39 home runs, 96 runs scored, 96 RBI and six stolen bases in 479 at-bats in 2019. He's been an All-Star each of the last three seasons. Springer's style of play leaves him open to injury and he's only posted double-digit steals in one of his six seasons, but he remains a legitimate multi-category producer for fantasy owners. RotoBaller has him ranked as the No. 11 fantasy outfielder for 2020.
