Astros Considering Nelson Cruz
6 years agoThe Houston Astros are considering free-agent designated hitter Nelson Cruz, as they remain open to trading outfielder Josh Reddick, according to major league sources. Reddick turns 32 in February and is owed $13 million in each of the next two seasons. He dropped from a career-high .847 OPS in 2017 to a .718 OPS in 2018. Cruz is only a DH at this stage of his career (39 next July), but he still hit 37 home runs and drove in 97 runs in 519 at-bats for Seattle last year and continues to displate top-notch power. As long as he stays healthy, Cruz should continue to be an asset for his power in mixed leagues. Moving to Houston and their solid lineup would be another plus for Cruz.
