Astros Calling Up Another Top Prospect
5 years agoThe Houston Astros are calling up infield prospect Abraham Toro-Hernandez from Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday, according to sources. Toro, 22, has done nothing but hit at Double-A Corpus Christi and Round Rock in 2019, slashing a combined .324/.411/.527 with 17 home runs, 80 RBI and four steals in 114 games. He was hitting .424 with a homer and 10 RBI in 16 games at Round Rock before his call-up. The switch-hitter could see regular playing time at third base with Alex Bregman moving to shortstop in the wake of Carlos Correa's (back) injury. While Toro is unlikely to put up Yordan Alvarez numbers right off the bat, he can be useful in deep mixed leagues immediately if he plays regularly. Toro is ranked as Houston's No. 6 prospect, per MLB.com.
