6 years agoThe Oakland Athletics acquired relief pitcher Fernando Rodney from the Twins on Thursday in exchange for minor league right-hander Dakota Chalmers. Rodney has a 3.09 ERA and 25 saves on the season in 46 appearances for Minnesota. The trade saps basically all of the veteran's fantasy value, though, as he'll pitch in a setup role with his new team. Blake Treinen remains the closer, and the A's also have traded for Jeurys Familia and picked up Shawn Kelley recently to bolster their 'pen. Chalmers is a 21-year-old who has appeared in just two games (one start) for Single-A Beloit in 2018. Those who are in need of saves need to immediately pick up Addison Reed, as he should now be in the closer role in Minnesota.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
