Aroldis Chapman Starts Rehab Assignment Friday
2 years agoNew York Yankees relief pitcher Aroldis Chapman (Achilles) is beginning his minor league rehab assignment with Double-A Somerset on Friday. Chapman has been on the injured list for a month, but he should only require a short rehab assignment and could be activated to rejoin New York's bullpen at some point early next week. With how well Clay Holmes has done in the ninth inning for the Bombers this year, it's entirely plausible that the 34-year-old left-hander will share closing duties with Holmes once he returns to the Bronx. Holmes has been lights-out this year, while Chapman is 0-2 with a 3.86 ERA, 1.64 WHIP, nine saves, 15 strikeouts and 10 walks in 14 innings pitched. He'll obviously lose a lot of fantasy appeal if he's not saving games regularly.
