Aroldis Chapman Set For Another Rehab Outing Sunday
2 years agoNew York Yankees relief pitcher Aroldis Chapman (Achilles) will make another minor league rehab appearance with Double-A Somerset on Sunday, and then he could be activated from the injured list, according to skipper Aaron Boone. When Chapman is activated, he will return to the ninth inning, which is bad news for those that have Clay Holmes, who has been lights-out as the Yankees closer this year. Still, we'd be surprised if Holmes is completely out of the picture for saves in the Bronx given how well he's pitched so far in 2022. Chapman gave up a hit and struck out one for Somerset in his first rehab outing on Friday, and he's closed out nine games for the Yanks this year while sporting a 3.86 ERA and 1.64 WHIP with 15 K's in 14 innings of work.
