Antonio Callaway Travels With Team For First Preseason Game
6 years agoCleveland Browns rookie wide receiver Antonio Callaway has made the trip with the team to New York for their preseason opener against the Giants on Thursday. His attorney rescheduled his hearing for a minor misdemeanor marijuana possession and driving with a suspended license from Thursday to Aug. 23. Callaway was also found to have a gun strap and several rounds of ammunition in his car, but there was no gun. He is in Stage 1 of the league's substance-abuse program after testing for a dilute sample at the NFL combine. The Browns seem to believe Callaway that the marijuana was not his and that he's stayed clean. The rookie wideout was promoted to the first-team offense when they traded Corey Coleman to the Bills on Sunday, so Callaway has a real chance to make noise in his rookie season. However, he could be subject to a suspension by the league, which clouds his value in 2018. Callaway was regarded as a first-round talent but fell to the fourth round because of off-field issues. He's a strong dynasty league pick and could be worth a late-round flier in redraft leagues.
