Angels To Keep Justin Upton In Leadoff Spot
4 years agoThe Los Angeles Angels plan to keep using outfielder Justin Upton in the leadoff spot. The 33-year-old veteran is riding a five-game hitting streak after going 2-for-5 with a single, double and a stolen base in an 8-3 win over the Detroit Tigers on Saturday. He has hit .391 in his last five games, including three multi-hit performances. Upton is hitting .333 with no homers and two RBI in the last seven days and will get a chance to add to his hitting streak on Tuesday against San Francisco Giants right-hander Anthony DeSclafani. In 106 plate appearances in the leadoff spot this year, Upton is 30-for-90 (.333) with five home runs and 14 RBI. In comparison, he's hitting .143 (7-for-49) with two homers and four RBI in 14 games in the sixth spot in the lineup. As long as he continues to hit leadoff for the Halos, Upton's fantasy value will be higher.
