Angels Hope Anthony Rendon Will Return Next Week
3 days agoLos Angeles Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon (hamstring) is on track to take live batting practice during this weekend's series against the Cubs in Chicago. Manager Ron Washington said prior to Wednesday's game against the division-rival Oakland Athletics that the club hopes Rendon will be ready to get on the field for the Angels' matchup against the defending-champion Texas Rangers on Monday. There is currently no plan for Rendon to go on a minor-league rehab assignment before returning from a strained left hamstring. Although the 34-year-old former All-Star is hardly relevant in fantasy baseball at this stage of his career, he still projects as Anaheim's primary third baseman when healthy. Brandon Drury will be at risk of losing playing time in the infield upon Rendon's seemingly imminent activation from the 60-day injured list.
