Andrew Luck Dealing With High Ankle Injury
5 years agoAlong with a calf strain that is putting his Week 1 status in doubt, Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck (ankle, calf) is dealing with a high ankle injury, according to general manager Chris Ballard. Luck is expected to miss the rest of the preseason games, and his Week 1 status is very much in doubt. The Colts are hoping to make a decision on Luck's Week 1 status "by the end of the third preseason game" on Saturday, Aug. 24. If Luck cannot go for the regular season opener, Jacoby Brissett would start against the Chargers. Ballard insisted that this situation isn't like the one in 2017, when Luck's recovery from offseason shoulder surgery lingered into the regular season and he didn't wind up playing at all that year. While it's looking more likely that Luck won't play in Week 1, it isn't a foregone conclusion just yet. However, it'll make fantasy owners more hesitant to take him as a high-end QB1 after a huge bounceback year in 2018.
